Snowy Saturday – WW1 Committee on Public Information

Today it a pretty heavy snow day in Snoqualmie, so in between opening boxes of wedding presents (logging them, collapsing the boxes, etc). I’m listening to a three hour Chomsky call-in on cspan that I found on suprnova. He just made a reference to some of the origin of modern advertising specifically the WW1 Committee on Public Information. First I read Propaganda Critics article about it. Here is a guide to the historical record of it’s existence on archives.gov (unfortunately the actual materials are not online). Then a USNews piece on WW1 Censorship that talks about the agency.
