Yesterday I was with Ben and Mathias in Issaquah, because Ben's car wasn't ready at the Ford dealer, and he needed a ride to my place till Tim could give him a ride. We decided to ride around a bit and check out some stuff. Mathias drove us up this insane road that climbs Tiger Mountain I believe it's SE 54th Street (at least at the start) See this map to understand. He is looking forward to biking it. It's a pretty cool set of roads, lots of turns and trees, with occational views of Lake Samammish. We also went by my house. I endured the "middle of nowhere", and "are we there yet" taunts. For my personal notes, there is a fire hydrant across the street at the corner from my house. This is like 40 yards IIRC.

Mimicking Microsoft's Middleware Strategy. Such companies as Sun, AOL/Netscape and Real misunderstand Microsoft's success. They think that because controlling the API in Windows has been a huge advantage for Microsoft's applications, controlling a media player format should pay off too. [osOpinion]

Bug hunter reports flaw in Excel. Security expert Georgi Guninski goes public with an alert on the use of XML style sheets with Microsoft's Excel XP software. The software giant is none too pleased with the word. [CNET News.com]

I really have to wonder what Guninski thinks he gains when he releases a vuln the day after he reports it.

Talk about lack of PR spin; passport changes to expose things you didn't have control over before, and by default make it opt-out on new passport creation, then sends out a notice to users who didn't have this choice when they signed on that this is now configurable. The result is that people think they are going to get more SPAM, and microsoft is even more evil. *sigh*
